Connecting the world's needs

with the world's resources

Jamaica needs your help!

The reality of Hurricane Melissa's destruction...

As my dad and I traveled through our homeland last week, we observed the harsh devastation Hurricane Melissa left in her wake. The lush rolling hills and fruitful farmland were ravaged, stripped down bear bark and naked plants.  Light poles laid snapped and strewn across roads while we rolled along bumping over powerlines as we drove through decimated towns. The vibrant culture and friendly faces displayed signs of weariness, a

sense of being overwhelmed, yet one thing remained…still shining through those heavy clouds.

The warm welcome, gracious hospitality, and determined resilience in these communities exemplified by the Jamaican saying, ”Wi likkle, but wi tallawah!” (We’re small, but we’re strong!) and as a result we will rise again…stronger!  It is this hope that “betta mus’ come!” that compels me!

Hope for a brighter future...

Over the years I've been blessed to develop strong friendships with trusted, effective partners doing the hard work of community development in Jamaica. I've leaned into those relationships

to connect with local churches that are intentionally going to seek and serve individuals in areas often forgotten or overlooked, because they are difficult to reach, due to their location and occasionally challenging interactions.

In the communities like Jointwood located up in the mountains, no running water before the hurricane, and one road in/out, nearly 95% of the homes have some damage, most have gaping

holes in their roofs, or no roof at all.  Schools are closed, shops are shut, food is scarce, electricity is dead, but hope is alive!  Phrases like, “We’ll rebuild…we’ll come back even stronger!” were expressed often as well as a commitment to preach the Gospel as shared by Nadine, the pastor’s wife.  As you can see, the church sustained serious damage and needs extensive repair, but that hasn’t stopped them from driving 2-hrs, one-way, 2x/wk to serve the residents of Jointwood! Their love for the people is easily evident as well as the love of the community for them!  It’s communities like this: the least, the last, and the lost that Stewards is focused on getting not only much needed supplies, but also the Gospel of Jesus Christ to by connecting their needs to the world’s resources!

How you can help...

We need supplies and are taking trips as often as we can with as many as we can.  Our first Stewards' ImpactTeam trip is now full for Fri. 11/21—Wed.11/26.  If you’re interested on going a future trip, (details are being finalized) just let me know by filling out the short form below or shooting me a quick email: Shane@StewardsIntl.org. Whether or not you can travel, we need people to pray regularly, support by either or both of these ways, and tell others!

If you are interested in going to serve on an upcoming group trip, please submit your email!
